CRIME is slightly up in Axminster this month, compared to the same period last year.

Neighbourhood beat manager PC Darren Herridge said there were 26 crimes in July, compared to 24 last year.

But he added during the monthly council meeting that they had a detection rate of nine, which is up by three on the previous year.

Incidents of reported crime included: seven criminal damage; five thefts; three cases of actual bodily harm, three common assault; three burglaries; two drunk and disorderly; one possession of cannabis; one public order; and one false representation.
