Hundreds of people rolled-up for a circus-themed Dalwood Country Fair on Saturday.

There were clowns and acrobats, strong men and even a lion tamer in the fancy dress procession, which featured some 22 local children.

Delighted organisers said the 670th fair was one of the best-ever - and they expect to have raised more than £8,000.

The money has been earmarked for five major charities this year – the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, the Multiple System Atrophy Trust, The Project, Devon Freewheelers and Children’s Hospice South West – and all the village organisations and groups will also receive a share of the
profits.

Shelagh Fearnley, of the organising committee, said they especially wanted to thank Martin Farenden for providing his field at the top of the village.

She added: “We are all on a high - we thought it was brilliant.”
