Big turnout for the official start of resort’s Christmas festivities

SEATON turned out in force to herald the official start of the resort’s Christmas festivities on Friday.

The colourful illuminations were switched on in the Square by Mayor Peter Burrows, helped by fancy dress winner, local youngster Elsa Woods, aged seven, before Santa arrived on his sleigh, courtesy of the Lions Club.

Tesco provided an ice skating rink in the car park outside their new store and many of the town’s traders stayed open late for gift hunters.

Carols were sung by the Axe Valley Community Choir for the large crowds that gathered in the town centre and Seaton Majorettes showed off their considerable baton twirling skills.
