Snow was no deterrent to staff at the Community Shop and Post Office, who travelled in icy conditions to make home deliveries to the elderly in the area.

Chairman of the community shop association Kathy Laing thanked around 30 people who help out at the shop, along with suppliers and the post master.

She said: "Their help definitely made a difference. The village was cut off for a couple of days - buses weren't running and there were slippery conditions, which many people didn't want to travel in.

"I think the elderly in the community would have struggled without the help. The staff have been commendable, and some have worked extra shifts when others haven't been able to get in.
