EAST Devon District Council has adopted a new data quality policy that officials say will allow them to "manage performance and make decisions more effectively".At a meeting of the Executive Board in Sidmouth last week, councillors voted in favour of new measures that will place good quality and accessible data at the heart of all EDDC practices.Head of finance at EDDC Diccon Pearce said: "To manage performance and make accurate decisions it relies on quality data."A corporate director will be assigned to take responsibility for the strategic management of data, ensuring it is written and entered in the same way across all departments and is accessible to the public.
