Agencies join forces for the benefit of residents.

A COMMUNITY action day at Heathpark, in Honiton, saw agencies working together for the benefit of local residents.

Representatives from Devon and Cornwall Constabulary and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service teamed up with partners from local authorities and housing providers to visit 150 homes.

Every householder was given a community safety pack and, while the visits were taking pace, East Devon District Council workmen conducted a general clean-up of the area’s estate roads.

Community safety officer Gerry Moore said the event, held in the vicinity of St Paul’s Road last Wednesday morning, had been a great success.

“Despite the bad weather, the local community will have benefited from all the agencies working together and offering a range of services,” he said.

During the event, 17 requests were made for fire safety checks.

A further 13 requests were received by police for home crime prevention surveys.

Two households asked for property marking advice, 11 said they wanted to speak to housing providers and nine said they want to be part of the police community messaging service.

A further four households asked to speak to a Police Community Support Officer.
