Book characters of all shapes, sizes and colours mingled as pupils from Honiton Primary School dressed to impress for World Book Day.
Held on Thursday (March 5), the event allowed the children to show their creative sides with their outfits and enjoy reading and writing at the same time. The colourful getups included Mr Men’s classic Mr Bump, Roald Dahl’s ever-popular characters the Big Friendly Giant and Mr Twit, and Alice from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.
World Book Day is designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, marked in over 100 countries. Jocelyn Head, of Honiton Primary School, said: “The children loved their favourite books coming to life by dressing as their character. A range of activities were organised throughout the school to link World Book Day.
“It was inspiring to see their imaginations flourish and their excitement of their joy of reading.”
