SIX teams from schools across the Axe Valley took part in the Year Four Athletics Festival at Colyton Grammar School.

The event - part of the East Devon School Sports Partnership - was organised and run by Anne Harris, school sports co-ordinator for the Axe Valley. A team of Colyton Grammar School sports leaders helped out.

Teams from All Saints in Axminster, Colyton Primary School, Dalwood Primary School, and Seaton Primary School, took part in activities from javelin throwing to jumping, from shuttle runs to the hurdles. The day ended with a sprint finale.

First place went to Colyton, who will go on to represent the area at the East Devon finals on June 18, along with Seaton - who were close runners up.

Sports leader Benja Arnott said: "All the children enjoyed a well-hosted event in beautiful and sunny conditions.
