POLICE are telling residents to lock up their homes, following a spate of day-time Burglars entered several homes through open windows and insecure doors within three days.

Cash was stolen from Axminster Football Club, in Sector Lane, on Monday, August 17. Police said thieves entered through an unlocked window.

The following day, £2,200 worth of electrical goods were stolen from a house in Chard Road after thieves gained access through an unlocked window on the first floor. On the same day, in Gamberlake, a ladder was taken from the unlocked garage and used to enter an open window on the first floor - but nothing was stolen.

On Wednesday, August 19, a key was taken from under a door mat at a Dalwood holiday home, and a Nintendo wii game consul and games were stolen.

PC Kevin Bennett said: "These types of crimes are very rare, but following these incidents we are warning people to be cautious, especially in the warmer weather, and to make sure their windows and doors are secured - not just on the ground floor."

Anyone with information can call police on 08452 777 444.
