WHILE they accept there is plenty of room to develop a new dwelling in the grounds of 18 Clapper Lane, Honiton, town councillors feel planning permission should only be granted if the design of the building truly mirrors that of neighbouring properties.Plans submitted by Susan Chadwick do not fully meet that goal, members of Honiton Town Council's planning committee agreed last week.Councillor Michael Teare, chairman of the committee, reported materials used would match those of the existing property at 18 Clapper Lane. But deputy mayor Councillor Vivienne Ash said: "I'm sure there's room for a new home, but I don't feel the design mirrors neighbouring properties."The committee recommended refusal, but said no objection would be raised to a plan that matched the town's design statement.Councillor Roy Coombs added: "The other properties do not have parking.
