The mayor’s bear of Honiton goes on his travels to promote the town.

The mayor’s bear of Honiton is continuing his globe trotting mission to travel to as many places as he can to promote the town.

Diddy recently returned from his travels to Poland with local resident Trevor Hitchcock and has been telling the Midweek Herald about his adventures.

Flying from Bristol International Airport the little bear was greeted by a familiar face - Gromit - of Wallace and Gromit fame.

On arriving at Krowkow Airport to rainfall he made his way to Tychy, which is a town near Katowice.

He visited the beautiful fountains at Plac Baczynskiego and travelled to see a local church and its gardens at Bujakow where he made friends with lots of the locals there.

During his trip, Diddy also went to Lesnow, the Sanktuarium, Nowy Potk, once the home of the Polish poet Krasinsky, and a longer visit to Ogrodzieniec - a huge ruined castle built high on a rocky crag.

“While in Poland I saw some beautiful sights, I met some lovely people and was well looked after by my chaperone and his lovely friend and her family.

“I would love to go again.”
