Mr R Press (Midweek Herald, February 4) states that disabled people who use the Honiton Hospital and surgery are to face parking charges. This is not the case. They are among people exempt from parking charges to be introduced in the spring. Members of the hospital league of friends will also not pay because of their volunteering work.We are trying to manage the car park at Honiton to enable the limited number of spaces to be used by people who need to drive to the hospital. Our car parks are not always used by people visiting our hospitals. The charges are a way of managing this issue and to encourage people to look at alternative ways of travelling, thus reducing congestion around the hospital. The Trust is developing travel plans for all PCT service areas across the county. These will include a range of measures to encourage alternatives to single car use.Dave RollasonFacilities ManagerDevon Primary Care Trust
