I am writing to express my wholehearted support of Councillor Jill McNally in respect of her very valiant stand over the secret vote to obtain a £250,000 loan to further the viability of the less than necessary community complex. The revised plans are unseen by the people of Honiton. The cash available and its source are unknown to the people of Honiton. The extent of the financial load that will be placed on Honiton's council tax payers, should this venture fail, is unknown. It is my view that for six councillors to try and force through a loan decided on in a secret session demonstrates a level of arrogance and disregard for the tax payers and voters of this town.I believe that this incident should lead to a demand that all financial decisions made in secret should be explained to the tax paying electorate, until such time that it is no longer legal to spend in this manner ever again.I will, at the next meeting of the Northcote Lane Area Residents' Association, seek the support and blessing on my opinions in this matter. Until then these are my personal and very deeply held views.K L ShermanChairmanNorthcote Lane Area Residents Association HonitonNorthcote Lane
