I would like to bring to the attention of the public how, when we all are suffering from a recession, businesses, like banks, are trying to capitilise on the tragedy that bestows us from time to time.
I would like to bring to the attention of the public how, when we all are suffering from a recession, businesses, like banks, are trying to capitilise on the tragedy that bestows us from time to time.
Last Friday, my daughter went into her bank to pay a cheque in, the bank clerk said to her, I quote: "Due to the tragic death of an Axminster mother have you thought about taking out life insurance?"
My daughter did not know what to say to him, as she knew the lady that had died and before she knew it the clerk had made an appointment for her to see someone the following week.
She left the bank in question and was shocked at the way that banks are trying to make money.
How would it have looked to a family member if they had gone to that particular bank and been asked that same question?
We know times are hard, but this is going beyond the boundaries of decency.
My daughter did contact the bank's head office and got a full apology and was told that it was not its policy to do such a thing and it was the decision of the manager at that branch. So, whoever you are, please think before you ask your staff to jump on the bandwagon of someone else's tragic circumstances.
