Officers called to eight household disputes in August - but overall crime figures are down again
Domestic disputes kept police busy at Axminster last month.
Police Community Support Officer Andy Trott told the town council that they were called to eight such incidents in August – although none resulted in criminal charges being brought.
In all, he said officers dealt with 28 reported incidents which included five cases of criminal damage to vehicles, three assaults, three shoplifting incidents and one possession of drugs.
“The number of incidents was down 15 per cent on the same month in 2011 so it is going in the right direction,” he added.
Cllr Paul Hayward raised the issue of a recent lost police taser cartridge and asked whether all uniformed officers now carried these weapons.
PCSO Trott said: “Not all. A lot request it but whether they get it or not….”
