We should be grateful to Tesco for their kind donation towards the expenses of the Seaton carnival. Nevertheless, bearing in mind that Tesco could recover the cost of this blandishment within minutes of opening up their tills in Seaton, it should not unduly influence our serious consideration of the desirability or otherwise of allowing them to secure a near monopoly of grocery and other trade in East Devon.
