Axminster pre-school is rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted inspectors

Dragonflies Pre-school at Axminster is on a high after being rated ‘outstanding’ by inspectors.

The group attained the highest possible ranking after an unannounced visit by a team from Ofsted.

During their visit, inspectors observed the daily activities and talked to staff, children and parents.

Among their comments were: “The quality of teaching is outstanding because staff have an excellent knowledge of how children learn.

“Children form exceptional relationships with staff.

“Children thrive due to the close bonds and secure emotional attachments with staff

“The management team are highly effective, resulting in staff who are extremely motivated and share commitment towards achieving excellence in all areas.”

Pre-School manager Sam Parker told the Herald: “Being rated as an outstanding pre-school by Ofsted is fantastic news and reflects the hard work of our dedicated team.

“Everything we have achieved has been driven by focusing on the children and their needs.”

Dragonflies, based at St Mary’s RC School in Lyme Road, is now extending its hours to open in the afternoon and will shortly be operating from 9am to 3pm on certain days.
