Fallen tree poses hazard during storm.
A quick acting driver prevented motorists coming to grief when a tree came down across the A35, near Kilmington, during Monday night’s gales.
Darren Chester was driving his Rivermead breakdown recovery vehicle on Gammons Hill when the large tree crashed down in front of him, at around 7.30pm.
He jumped out of his cab and flagged down traffic to prevent a collision before calling police and helping them pull the debris off the carriageway.
