Car collides with historic village gateway
A DRIVER escaped unhurt after his car collided with one of the historic Shute pillars at around 10.20 pm last night (Thursday).
Police say the vehicle and the stone post were both extensively damaged.
Village councillors are understood to be considering renewing their calls for road safety improvements in the area – the scheme of several accidents.
