Driver escapes injury at level crossing

AN AXMINSTER man had a lucky escape after crashing through a fence on to a railway line in Dorset, police have said.

AN AXMINSTER man had a lucky escape after crashing through a fence on to a railway line in Dorset, police have said.The man got out of his BMW 323 coupe and ran towards the signal box following the crash on Sunday morning, September 7, near Wool level crossing 10 miles west of Poole.Concerned residents called the police, who immediately told Network Rail so the power lines could be switched off before he returned to his car.The man was said to be unhurt and Network Rail checked the railway lines before getting the trains moving again.
