Police monitor traffic in key areas as part of their ongoing safety campaign

NEARLY 50 drivers were clocked exceeding the 30mph speed limit in checks at Seaton, Colyford and Colyton.

Police neighbourhood beat offices monitored traffic in four areas, on Monday June 6 - Swan Hill Road, Coly Road, Beer Road and Mounthill/Station Road.

While the big majority of drivers kept to the limit, 36 were recorded doing between 31 and 35mph and nine were clocked doing between 36 and 40mph. No vehicles were recorded going faster than 40mph.

Police say they will be carrying out further checks in the coming weeks. The main aim is to educate and warn drivers who commit offences.
