AROUND 40 drivers have been stopped by police in Axminster for speeding.

And six motorists were hit with a �60 fine and three points on their licenses.
Other drivers were given verbal warnings by police, who carried out the operation at various locations, including the Crewkerne Road.
Pc Darren Herridge said: "The police get no satisfaction out of giving tickets to people for speed offences, and would rather not have to do it.

"However, despite numerous attempts to get the message across through education, speed continues to be an issue, and my colleagues in traffic have assisted the local police team with some enforcement.
"Hopefully the word will get out and we will see a significant reduction in the speed of vehicles travelling along the Crewkerne Road.
