Honiton air cadet receives his gold Duke of Edinburgh award.

It was a proud day for an air cadet from Honiton who received the gold Duke of Edinburgh award from the man himself.

Cadet Warrant Officer Jake Rosen of the 1064 Air (Honiton) Squadron Air Training Corps was invited to St James’ Palace with his family to be presented with his award.

The 18-year-old said: “It was an amazing experience to meet the Duke of Edinburgh and well worth all the time and effort put into achieving the award.”

Jake had to undertake an expedition and project, complete 12 months’ voluntary work, six months of sport and learn a new skill.

He added: “I hope it will show what young people, given the right encouragement, are capable of.”
