An early years centre is set to be established in Axminster to take children from the age of two.

Families are being invited to view new early learning facilities ahead of the centre’s launch in September.

The centre, which will be based at Axminster Primary School, will open its doors from September 3 to children aged from two years and upwards.

Children will be able to attend sessions in the morning, afternoon or lunchtime, as the pre-school aims to provide a flexible services for parents.

The Early Years Centre will also provide a range of services for families including toddler groups, parenting classes, informal coffee mornings and baby massages.

Executive head Andrea Rice said: “We are very excited about this new development for the children and families in Axminster, as it will provide high quality child care, exciting learning opportunities and a range of services to support families.

“This is just what is needed to get our children off to the best possible start.”

The centre is the combination of two previous pre-schools, Rainbow Under 5’s Playgroup and Stepping Stone Nursery.

Early learning staff will be talking about their plans to provide varied learning opportunities for the children, including mud kitchens, music walls and water walls.

It is hoped being part of the primary school will make for a seamless transition for the children.
