Sidvale CC takes best overall with Yee Ha!

The points were with Sidvale Carnival Club during this year’s illuminated season in East Devon.

The club, on the road this year with western-themed Yee Ha! triumphed, at the annual circuit presentation night, hosted by Seaton Carnival Committee.

Sidvale gained the most points on the circuit and also took the Bob Newberry Cup for winning the open class.

Held at Seaton Town Hall, the presentation night took place last Friday.

The Midweek Herald Trophy for the most colourful entry was won by Ottery St Mary’s royal float, Pearls of the Sea.

The Elizabeth Svendsen Sheild for Royal Queens was won by Ottery St Mary’s Pearls of the Sea.

Honiton-based Fusion Carnival Club won the Beavis Paver Cup in the 30ft and under class with Super Mario tribute Game On. Runners-up Muckslingers CC took the Hazel Parsons Memorial Shield for Rasputin.

In the youth class, South Brent Carnival Club collected the Seaton and District Lions Cup for Monarch of the Glen.

The Nunsford Nutters (Bird is the Word) were named winners in the comic class and Axminster Young Farmers’ Club was runner-up with Obsession from a Western, collecting the Station Garage trophy.

Phil Armour took the trophy in the non-motorised walking with props class with his entry Light House Loonies.

Zem CC, of Chard, on the road with Carnivale De Venuzia, collected the Maureen Harding Memorial Trophy for best costumes and make-up. This category was judged secretly at eight carnivals by circuit judges.

The East Devon Rose Bowl for circuit queens was won by Ottery St Mary.

J B CC was the walking single winner with Jewel of the Sea and collected the Sidvale Carnival Trophy. Ozma CC was runner-up with Chess Queen.

Ozma CC also took first in the walking pairs class with Bill and Ben. The Batten Stevens family was runner-up with Bloomin Marvellous.

South Brent CC was judged the most improved entry with Monarch of the Glen.

Excalibar CC won the walking single junior award with Off With Their Heads. Runner-up was Aiden Pearcy with Pharaoh Surprise.

J B CC took the best overall walking entry with Jewel of the Sea.
