For those looking for a family day out, they need look no further than what is on offer in East Devon.

The Beehive, in Dowell Street, Honiton is one of the area’s newest venues, having opened in 2014.

It has a programme of live events, cinema screenings and space for community activities, exhibitions, workshops, meetings and conferences.

Thousands of people have used the building, with more than 80 community groups taking advantage of the facilities on offer.

A spokesman for the venue said: “A lot of families are now coming along to our gigs because it is such a safe and friendly environment an ideal location to experience your first standing or seated gig with some great up-and-coming bands and an awful lot of local talent.

“At the Beehive we have a strong ethos of supporting South West-based artists and in April we are looking forward to having a Honiton Rocks gig with young professional musicians from the town and surrounding area.”

Among the live events lined up for later in the year are Margo & Mr Whatsit, by Paddleboat Theatre and D’click Spanish ariel artists performing their extraordinary show, both of which take place in April.
