The views of the people of East Devon on the traditional-style light bulb ban, were broadcast on Sky News's Sunday live programme.

Chris Abbott, of award-winning retailer Abbotts, was asked to go on the program to give the view point of customers from their Seaton and Ottery St. Mary Stores, and how the panic buying of the traditional light bulbs is affecting independent hardware retailers.

The traditional 100w light bulb was outlawed on September 1, along with all frosted light bulbs. They will no longer be manufactured or imported into the UK, and a part of the Governments phase out of non energy efficient light bulbs.

Chris was then asked by the presenter if Abbott's had experienced any 'panic buying' to which he said: "We defiantly have, in both of our stores we have seen unprecedented buying of all traditional types of light bulbs, and speaking to other hardware retailers across the region they are all experiencing the same. But as the ban is only on import and manufacture, retailers are still aloud to sell them, so we have filled our storeroom up to bursting point so that we can continue to supply our customers for at least the next few years.
