EAST Devon residents are being warned that they could lose their right to vote if they do not register in time.

EAST Devon residents are being warned that they could lose their right to vote if they do not register in time.

About one-third of households in the area have not yet registered - and could miss out on deciding who should lead the country in the next General Election, due before June 3 next year.

East Devon District Council's electoral registration officer, Mark Williams, is urging anyone who is eligible to vote to make sure their name appears on the Register of Electors, which is published on December 1.

Registration forms have been sent to every household in the district and, by law, must be returned with details of everyone living at the property who is eligible to register and who will be resident at that property on October 15.

Registrations can be made by post or online. To confirm you r details by internet, go to the front page of the Council's website: www.eastdevon.gov.uk . Please ensure you have your security code handy, it is printed in the top right hand box of the registration form.

But if there are any additions, deletions or other changes to the printed details, please return the printed form by post.

If you have any questions, ring the helpline on 01395 517402.
