Lifeboat goes to the aid of a family cut off by the tide
Eight people – two adults and six children – were rescued yesterday evening (Monday, August 11) by Lyme Regis lifeboat crew.
They had been cut off by the tide on the north wall of the town’s harbour.
The lifeboat was launched at 7.10pm for the short journey from their base across the harbour to the north wall to pick up all eight people and return them to dry land and safety.
RNLI Deputy Launching Authority Phil Ball: said: ”When we received the call the tide was just about one foot from the top of the north wall so the people we rescued could have been stranded for some time if we had not been alerted.
“After we picked them up, all eight were spoken to by our colleagues from the coastguard service.”
