AROUND 300 people packed into the Town Mill courtyard for the centenary of Electric Lyme.
The event marks when electricity was bought to Lyme Regis and Dorset in 1909 and the role of Alban Woodroffe. Celebrations included town processions and plays.
Bright Sparks, members of Lyme Youth Theatre, re-enacted the electricity story and resident Martin Roundell Greene donned a moustache, top hat and Edwardian frock coat to play Woodroffe's ghost.
Town Mill Trustees showed the Mill and Malthouse attractions and offered champagne and biscuits.
Kevin Benfield of the Town Mill Trust, said: "The Town Mill has recently purchased the building [the Malthouse] which housed the original turbine and burned down in 1948.
"The Town Mill Trust plans to restore it to create a performance and exhibition space as a valuable community resource for the town.
