SEATON Town Council has spoken out against the reduction of adult education classes at the St Clare's centre.The council agreed on Monday that, as a large section of the town's community was over 50, residents should benefit from informal education which was not examination based.Mayor Councillor Sandra Semple said: "We are paying for education and adult education - not just for people who are coming out of school with no qualifications."There are a high number of people who don't necessarily want to do exam-based learning but who want to learn."Cllr Bob Palacio questioned the use of the building if less educational classes were being offered. Councillors agreed they would show they 'deplored' Devon County Council's concentration on exam-based only learning. They highlighted the social and mental benefits, arguing the reductions were unfair and not inclusive.
