Earlier this morning the auction room had to be evacuated after auctioneer Edward Whitton uncovered a wartime mortar bomb.
Mr Whitton said he had ‘no idea’ that the bomb was in the sealed box, which was consigned in a large quantity of containers.
The auction house, on Dowell Street, was sealed off by police as they waited for the Royal Navy’s bomb disposal unit.
