A suicide bereavement charity has thanked the generosity of Tesco Exmouth shoppers after scooping a £4,000 windfall.

Pete’s Dragons, based in Exeter Road, Exmouth, recently bagged the funds from Tesco’s Bags of Help community grant scheme.

Alison Jordan, CEO of Pete’s Dragons, which supports suicide bereaved families throughout Devon, said: “We, as a local charity, were delighted to have been selected for this round of voting and even more delighted to discover that we were to receive £4, 000.

“We are extremely grateful to the community of Exmouth for supporting us.

“These funds will help us to continue supporting those bereaved by suicide in and around the Exmouth area; funding like the Tesco’s Bags of Help Scheme is what enables us to provide support to those people when and how they need it the most.”

Voting ran in stores throughout November and December. Customers were given a token at the checkout and could vote for a trio of local projects to receive funding.
