But even vicars aren’t perfect.

As a vicar (or priest, or clergyperson, or minister, or pastor – whatever name you prefer) I get to meet and share life with lots of people.

In good times and bad, the best and worst of life, those of us who are called to work for God and for the church in this role have the huge privilege of sharing something of the love of God in all circumstances.

But, like anyone who tries to follow Jesus, we aren’t perfect and if you ever meet someone in my job who claims or acts like they are I would recommend keeping your distance, or before you know it you will be stockpiling food and weapons, living in a compound in Texas somewhere. False messiahs are dangerous.

For me, it’s reassuring to know that God loves and works through us imperfect types. The only qualification for following Jesus is being human
