Fate of M&S store not yet certain

MARKS and Spencer's director of retail, Steve Rowe, has assured a Honiton resident that public feedback will be taken into consideration before a final decision on the fate of the town's Simply Food store is made.

MARKS and Spencer's director of retail, Steve Rowe, has assured a Honiton resident that public feedback will be taken into consideration before a final decision on the fate of the town's Simply Food store is made.Mr Rowe told Shirley Smith, of Ashleigh Road: "It is important to remember that, at this stage, the closures are only a proposal and we have begun consultation with our teams in the affected locations."Our priorities are continuity of employment of staff where possible and to offer a quality service to customers where financially viable."We cannot confirm the closure of any store until this consultation has been completed."Mr Rowe added: "In the meantime, we are collating any feedback that customers wish to give us about these proposals and I will make sure your comments are passed to the relevant teams for consideration."I do not under-estimate how important it is to listen to and understand views."Mr Rowe's letter was received on the day that Honiton Town Council had set as a deadline for receiving petition sheets against the proposed closure. Hundreds have signed the petition.
