Box collections from the three parishes of Feniton, Escot and Payhembury have been totted up - with £822 raised for the Children’s Society charity.

The money was raised by 55 box holders, who often put aside the odd small change in purses and pockets at the end of the day, or who make a one-off donation.

The money is collected either in small or greater amounts and it all contributes to the charity.

Sheila Lanning, who organises the box collections, said: “A big thank you to all who took part.

“If you would like a box to drop in those pennies and odd loose change and feel that despite all the other calls on your money you would like to help, please call me on 01404 850699.

“However small the sum, at the end of the year it all contributes to the society’s need.”
