Filthy morning in Honiton

Rain keeps guests away from full English breakfast.

A “filthy morning” deterred some business owners from attending Honiton and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s December breakfast meeting.

As rain lashed the region, Honiton Community College ensured those who did venture out for the 7.30am start enjoyed a warm welcome - as well as a full English breakfast.

Opening the meeting, the chamber’s chairman, Colin Wright, said: “Thank you very much for coming out on this absolutely filthy morning”.

He said some of those paid-up to attend the breakfast had not been able to make it because of the weather and went on to thank the college “for putting on breakfast”.

Students were among those to give presentations at the two-hour meeting, talking about their planned trip to Ethiopia where they will be promoting sport as part of a three-year project led by the Youth Sport Trust.

However, the students are funding the trip themselves and are looking for sponsorship.

If you can help, call the school’s office.
