Honiton’s Kings House day hospice has received a welcome financial boost from the Freemasons Grand Charity.

Worshipful Brother Chris Yard, the assistant provincial grand master of Devonshire, visited the Hospiscare day centre in King Street to hand over a cheque for £1,000.

The money was given as part of the charity’s annual donation of nearly £14,000 to seven hospices in Devon this year.

Glynis Atherton, Hospiscare’s chief executive, said: “We are delighted to receive this continuing support from the Freemasons and are very grateful that they recognise the vital work we carry out in East Devon.

“Receiving regular support like this is essential in helping us maintain our services, which this year will cost more than £6million to provide across Exeter, Mid and East Devon.”

Kings House opened in Honiton, in February 2015.
