AN AXMINSTER resident has thanked the fire service for their help during the recent flooding at Purzebrook, Musbury Road.

Andrew Moy said he was speaking on behalf of all those affected on November 13 and 14, when crews drained water from several properties.

He said: "We could not have received a better service and their prompt action has helped speed up the subsequent clean-up and drying out process immensely - although it will be many weeks before the properties can be redecorated and carpeted.

"This has not been an easy time, particularly for our more senior neighbours."

He added it had been the second time in 11 months that residents in the area had been affected by flooding.

But he said the crews' standard of care was exemplary and helped to clear out properties over four hours.
