Lyme Regis Lifeboat crew tow the stricken vessel back to port

Two men in a broken down fishing boat were rescued off Seaton by Lyme Regis lifeboat in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday August 5).

The 17 ft vessel developed engine trouble outside Axmouth harbour and coastguards requested the lifeboat to launch at 12.42 am.

The two men had rowed from Seaton harbour in an attempt to recover their boat with an auxiliary engine, but that also failed and they called the coastguards for assistance.

The lifeboat arrived on scene at 1.20am and towed the fishing vessel to the safety of the harbour.

The RNLI lifeboat crew returned to Lyme Regis harbour at 2.46am.
