Powerboat begins taking on water off West Bay

Five people – two men, two boys and a woman – were rescued today (Sunday, April 17) by the volunteer crew of the Lyme Regis RNLI lifeboat when their powerboat broke down two miles east of West Bay.

All were taken aboard the lifeboat when their vessel began to take on water.

The crew towed the powerboat to West Bay harbour where an ambulance was waiting to treat one man for the effects of cold. The lifeboat was launched at 4pm and returned to Lyme Regis harbour two hours later.
