AFTER passing a resolution to take on East Devon District Council flowerbeds in Honiton, town councillors have been keen to pursue a more imaginative approach to the displays.

However, they have been confronted with a hiccup - the district council only has two displays in Honiton, both in the town centre.

Major displays at approaches to the town are, in fact, owned by Devon County Council.

Acting chairman of the town council Vivienne Ash has warned councillors not to take on the district flowerbeds "in isolation".

She said it would be much more difficult to bring about change if so few of the displays are involved.

Honiton Town Council has set aside funding for flowerbeds.
