A scenic road near Axminster has been blighted by flytipped rubbish – including several large children’s toys.
The dumped waste, in Roman Road, Kilmington, was spotted by a concerned resident, who branded it ‘disgusting’.
The woman, who asked not to be named, was walking her dog before coming across the scene.
She said: “Roman Road is a very nice country lane.
“I saw the rubbish first last Thursday – everything had been dumped like it was trying to remain out of sight, but clearly it was not.”
When she returned to the site afterwards, she noticed the children’s toys had been dragged out the bushes and strewn across the path.
“I think someone was trying to see if they were worth anything,” she said.
“They made the whole area look even worse. I could not believe that some would drive up the road to dump the waste, seeing as it so close to the recycling centre near Wilmington.”
The woman said household waste was also left in the road – comprising of a mattress and television.
“I do not know why people do it,” she added.
“Dog walkers use this road, as well as children walking with their parents and even horse riders.
“This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – why are people so ignorant?
“Another thought I had is what if these people’s kids came along and saw this happen – if this was a family dumping that stuff, what example is being set for the next generation?
“I know flytipping is on the increase, but it is not right.”
