Food bank meets growing demand

Food bank provides more than 150 days worth of food.
More and more families in Honiton are turning to the food bank for help.
The King’s Centre Food Bank told the Herald that it provided more than 150 days worth of food last week.
Teresa Hawkes, the manager of the food bank, said: “We provided over 150 days worth of food last week and it is becoming a regular thing.”
The food bank recently set up a food collection point at Tesco, which has enjoyed a good response from the local community.

Teresa added: “We have had a good response to our food bin in Tesco which has been brilliant because we have had a huge rise in the number of people coming in to the food bank.”
The collection bin was funded by the United Christian Charities.

Anyone wishing to donate food items can take them to the collection point at Tesco or to the King’s Centre.
Items such as pasta, sugar, rice, tea, coffee, tinned foods, fruit juices, squash and UHT milk can be donated.
