Former ballet school head to speak at Lyme Regis

Maureen D’Albertanson invited to address the Heritage Coast U3A

As a former Academic Head of the Royal Ballet School, Maureen D’Albertanson has a special insight into this distinguished, and unique, British institution. She will be sharing her experience with the Heritage Coast U3A on Friday, November 11.

The Royal Ballet School has grown and adapted since its beginnings under Dame Ninette de Valois 90 years ago - outstanding dancers of international reputation form a chain of excellence emerging from its doors.

This will be a treat for ballet aficionados as well as for those whose knowledge of the Royal Ballet School may be limited to that painful audition scene in ‘Billy Elliott’, or whose familiarity with its non-fictional graduates extends only as far as Darcey Bussell judging ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

This U3A talk is at 11am in Woodmead Halls, Lyme Regis, DT7 3PG, following members’ AGM at 10am, coffee, and the Remembrance Day silence. Entrance is free to U3A members, non-members are encouraged to make a £2 donation towards the talk.
