FORMER Colyford man Roger Platts has scooped a gold medal at the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show.
Mr Platts was awarded for his show garden - despite only having a few months to prepare.
The former Colyton Grammar School pupil, who had been a regular exhibitor throughout the 1990s, returned after eight years absence.
The garden was commissioned by the show's main sponsors, M&G Investments, and carried out by Mr Platts and his team at Stick Hill, Edenbridge, in Kent.
