A former Honiton district councillor has explained the reasoning behind his decision to step down from his role.
David Foster, who is also the former Mayor of Honiton, worked on the district council for one year before resigning last month, citing ‘family and work commitments’.
But Mr Foster also believes his resignation will allow him to focus more on achieving his goal to benefit Honiton and its residents.
Speaking to the Herald, Mr Foster says he wants to focus on bringing a number of inclusive disabled-friendly play facilities to the town, as well as free-to-use sports pitches.
“I am hoping that by stepping away from the district authority, it will free up more time to do this,” Mr Foster said.
“I think inclusive play is such an important thing and play
parks in and around our community should be free to use by everybody. The importance of play pitches in Honiton and Exmouth has already been identified and it’s important that we deliver these facilities.”
Reflecting on his time as an EDDC councillor, Mr Foster said: “I am happy with what I achieved in the short time I was there. I would like to thank fellow councils and council staff for their support and continued commitment in what is a vital role in our local area.”
There are four candidates vying for Mr Foster’s seat.
