Community festival to be held in Honiton.

A free family community festival is to be held in Honiton.

The event, which is being held by East Devon District Council, takes place on Saturday, July 6, at Allhallows Field.

There will be plenty on offer including face painting, circus skills, a bouncy castle and much more.

It will also coincide with the official unveiling of a special jubilee sculpture at Honiton Leisure Centre.

The mosaic sculpture was designed by six-year-old Alfie Gibbins, of Fenny Bridges.

His design was chosen out of hundreds of entries which were submitted as part of a competition launched by the former district council chairman Councillor Peter Halse to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee last year.

Alfie’s design was made into a real life sculpture by local artist Gordon Field.

It will be unveiled at 1.30pm by the district council’s Deputy Chairman Councillor Christine Drew.

The community festival will run from 1pm to 4pm.
