People - especially the vulnerable - urged to get a potentially life-saving jab as winter approaches

Townsend House Medical Centre in Seaton is urging people to take advantage of a free flu vaccine.

It is running specialised flu clinics on three Saturdays - September 16, September 30 and October 14.

It is also holding a number of mini clinics during the week.

Patients who want to take advantage of the offer are asked to contact the surgery to arrange for an appointment to have the jab.

A spokesman at the medical centre told The Herald: “Flu is an unpredictable virus that can cause mild or unpleasant illness in most people.

“It can cause severe illness and even death among vulnerable groups including older people, pregnant women and people with an underlying health condition.”

The free vaccines are available subject to eligibility.

* Townsend House Medical Centre is also now offering extra appointments for blood withdrawals, from Monday to Thursday, from 7.15am.
