Business leaders in Honiton insist East Devon District Council freebie should be on a Saturday morning, preferably December 17.

East Devon District Council has said it will grant free parking for half a day in Honiton in the run-up to Christmas.

Business leaders in the town are recommending the concession is made on Saturday, December 17 - in the morning. That would be the time most beneficial to shoppers, members of Honiton and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry agreed at a meeting last week.

Honiton Town Council has been advised that the half day of free parking could take place on either December 17, 20 or 22 and has been asked to state a preference. The chamber has passed its recommendation to the town clerk, Lyn Hargood.
